Jun 11, 2009

Kingston, Jamaica – June 11, 2009

Consumers in Dominica are next in line to have easy access to the tasty, high-quality beverages and food items from the LASCO Group of Companies. The company today announced its entry into the Dominican market, as it intensifies its expansion initiative on the regional and international scenes.

The products which will hit the market first are: LASCO Food Drink, LASCO LaSoy Lactose Free (also known as LaSoy Milk Free), LASCO Vienna Sausages, LASCO Baked Beans, LASCO Instant Chocolate, LASCO Oats Porridge Mix and LASCO Browning.

LASCO’s entry into Dominica brings to thirteen the number of Caribbean countries, to which the Jamaican-based company now exports. Since LASCO began exporting to the region thirteen years ago, the following countries have been benefiting from its products and services: Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Cayman Islands, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Antigua, Anguilla, St. Kitts/Nevis, Grenada, Montserrat, British Virgin Islands and Bahamas. The company keeps consumers in the Central American countries of Belize and Panama, supplied with its products. LASCO also exports to the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

LASCO’s major distributor in Dominica, Fine Foods Inc., is excited about the benefits that this partnership will bring to the people of the island. Karl Nassief, Managing Director of Fine Foods Inc, believes the best quality and affordability that LASCO offers is attractive to Dominican consumers, distributors and retailers. “What inspired us is that LASCO is committed to quality at the best price in the market. This founding truth will enable LASCO and Fine Foods Inc to always bring to market products that the public will always look forward to. One does not always find a company with best quality and best price,” says Mr. Nassief.

Dr. Eileen Chin, General Manager of LASCO Foods Ltd. and Head of its Export Division points out that LASCO’s wide-range of quality beverages are always in demand among Caribbean people in the region as well as those in the Diaspora. “LASCO enjoys meeting the nutritional needs of Caribbean people through our beverages and other products and we remain committed to our consumers,” stated Dr. Chin. “We thank the Dominicans for welcoming us into their homes and we are confident that they will be satisfied with our offerings.”

The company remains optimistic about a steady growth in sales in the region. Lisa Chin, Marketing and Business Development Manager points out that despite the global economic challenges, LASCO’s sales have remained buoyant: “ The sale of our products, especially our beverages, is experiencing a consistently significant growth.”

The company has pioneered a range of products, which utilize soy-based protein and deliver to the consumer a highly nutritious product at an incredibly low price. LASCO is also renowned for its quality cereals, canned meats and sauces, personal care items, household products and pharmaceuticals. The corporate programmes of LASCO include the Teacher, Principal, Police and Nurse of the Year Awards, which pinpoint and reward patriotic professionals.

Just recently, Jamaicans gave the thumbs up to Founder, Chairman and CEO of the LASCO Group of Companies, Honourable Lascelles Chin, as the Most Admired Business Leader. The findings are the result of an islandwide poll conducted by the highly respected Don Anderson-led research team, Market Research Services Limited (MRSL). The poll identified individuals and institutions most admired by members of the public, during the last 15 years. The poll also ranked LASCO among the Top Three Most Admired Non-Financial Companies.

An interesting fact about the LASCO Group is that the Stone Poll in Jamaica has revealed that 97.4% of health care providers identified LASCO products as assisting in lowering malnutrition in children, to a significant degree.
